A PAINFUL ABSENCE FOR THE SUPER EAGLES

The countdown has begun. On Friday, September 25, 2026, Nigeria will welcome Madagascar at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, in the opening match of the 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign.

But sadly, one familiar name will be missing from the battle.

Victor Osimhen will not be there.

The Super Eagles striker has been ruled out of the opening AFCON qualifiers as he continues his recovery from a muscle strain. The NFF has confirmed that he will miss the matches against Madagascar on September 25 and Guinea-Bissau on September 29.

For the fans in Uyo who were hoping to see their star striker lead the attack, this is a heartbreaking blow.

But football is bigger than one player, and now the Eagles must fight together.

Victor, take your time and heal properly. Your health comes first. We cannot wait to see you back on the pitch, wearing the green and white and making Nigerians proud again.

???????? Nigerians and football fans everywhere, please join us in wishing Victor Osimhen a speedy and complete recovery.

Get well soon, Victor.
Uyo will miss you on September 25.
